I would like to start this off by saying I am writing this on my period.

I am getting absolutely sick of the blog community belaboring the point that Girls is another show about rich white girls in NYC. I get it. I really fucking get the point guys, but really you're done. I understand how this "feminist" ( which we by the way deemed feminist, not them) show is not portraying all women. And I get that all women of color on the show are one line background parts. (btw there's only been one episode) And I get that the show is once again marginalizing other women, by not representing them in a show about girls in a very diverse city. Ok, I also get this is not new. However, I think what needs to be considered is the intention. This show is not claiming to be radical. This show is in fact autobiographical, based on the writers life. Therefore, how dare we say how she  should write her show. This doesn't make the show any less feminist, any less relevant, and any less funny. I understand she has a responsibility as a blah blah blah, but hello ladies!!! Lets get behind Dunham. She is 25 writing, directing and starring in her own HBO show.  Yes, this show isn't changing any social structures, or blowin' minds, but we all love it! Its written by one of us! With the intention of talking about how girls are in real life.  I think the show is brillant. It is diversifying depiction's of identity on television, and I say HURR FUCKING AY !  The response to this show reminds me of this girl in my feminist media studies class, who literally tried to be offended by everything! Yes nothing is perfect, but anything close to different, progressive, and representative is great. MOVE ON.
